Understanding the Hook
The Hook is an inside arm wrestling technique where pullers supinate their wrists, curl their hand in, and engage in close-quarters bicep combat. Unlike the Top Roll, a hook relies on high flexion and raw side-pressure.
How to Execute the Hook
- Wrist Flexion: Curl your wrist inward at the "Go" to secure a cup.
- Supination: Turn your palm toward your face, locking your hand together with your opponent's.
- Side Pressure: Move your shoulder and torso along with your arm, using your bodyweight to press their hand to the pin pad.
Safety Warnings for Hook Pullers
Because the hook places immense stress on the elbow joint, keeping your arm inside your shoulder line is critical. Never let your hand drift behind your shoulder, as this places you in a dangerous "break-arm" position.
